Instructor Development

Scuba Diving International (SDI) offers one of the most modern, flexible, and diver-focused professional training programs in the industry. The SDI instructor path emphasizes real-world teaching skills, eLearning integration, the mandatory use of dive computers from day one, and the freedom for instructors to teach actively without annual “membership” fees (only course registration fees apply).

The professional levels are progressive and fully compliant with ISO 24803 and recognized worldwide. At Ambassadors of the Sea, we teach instructor ratings with SDI, TDI, ERDI, and FRTI (First Response Training International)

ERDI Instruction

Emergency Response Diving International (ERDI) is the premier public safety diving (PSD) training agency, specifically designed for police, fire, EMS, and other public safety professionals. Established in 2000, ERDI was created to address the unique hazards of emergency response diving—zero-visibility "black water" operations, contaminated environments, victim recovery, evidence preservation, and high-risk scenarios where recreational or technical training falls short.

All ERDI programs are fully compliant with OSHA scientific diving regulations and NFPA 1006/1670 standards for technical search and rescue. ERDI is recognized as the global leader in PSD training, used by major agencies (including FBI dive teams, state police, and large municipal fire/rescue departments), and is the only PSD agency with its own liability insurance and independently endorsed standards.

TDI Instruction

Technical Diving International (TDI) is the world's largest and most innovative technical scuba training agency. Established in 1994, TDI pioneered modern technical diving education, being the first agency to offer accessible nitrox training (no dives required), mixed-gas (trimix) programs for recreational-level divers, advanced overhead-environment courses outside traditional cave formats, and early rebreather training. TDI emphasizes rigorous prerequisites, modular progression (focusing on one major skill per course), real-world application, high instructor standards, and the use of cutting-edge materials with eLearning options. Courses push beyond recreational no-decompression limits, enabling deeper, longer, or more complex dives in open water, wrecks, and caves — all while prioritizing safety and diver self-reliance.

We specialize in Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) instruction on the Hollis Prism2 and M3S Triton rebreathers.

SDI Instruction

Scuba Diving International (SDI) is a leading recreational scuba training agency (part of the TDI/SDI/ERDI/PFI family) known for its modern, safety-focused approach. Founded in 1998, SDI emphasizes practical skills, early use of dive computers (required from the first course), online eLearning options, and real-world diving from the start. Unlike some agencies, SDI recognizes solo diving as a valid option with proper training and offers a progressive path from beginner to professional levels.
